Euthanasia

It’s never an easy decision to make, but sometimes the kindest thing you can do for a pet that is extremely ill or injured, is to have your veterinarian provide a humane way to put your pet to rest.

The staff and veterinarian will support you as you grieve the loss of your pet and help you through these difficult decisions.

How will i know when?

There are various common signs that can suggest that it might be time for your loved one. Your pet may not seem to experience enjoyment in things that they once used to. They may be experiencing more pain than usual, or can not respond to anyone in their usual ways.

Your veterinarian will examine and evaluate the condition of your pet and will then give you their professional opinion on what they believe is the right thing to do. They will explain all the options available for you. Ultimately the decision will be yours, so it is very important to understand your pet's condition in depth.

What should i do when i think its time

The act of saying goodbye is an important step in managing the natural and healthy feelings of grief and sorrow, following the loss of a beloved friend and companion.

When you have decided that it is time for your family and your pet, reach out to your local veterinarian about booking an appointment time to have a consult done. Once the euthanasia decision has been made, you and other family members may want to say goodbye to your pet. Family members who want to be alone with their pet should be allowed to do so. Some pet owners choose to be present during their pet’s euthanasia, others choose to say goodbye beforehand. This is a personal decision and you should do what feels right for you.

will it be painless?

Euthanasia is painless. Your veterinarian will administer sedation first to relax your pet. Following this, medication will be used to put your pet to rest peacefully. It will be quick and painless and we will be with you through the whole process.
